Your latest Fibre Router Firmware

Why does my router need updating?

To ensure your router is working well with new technologies and future products we regularly update your router firmware. The latest change has made a material difference to how it operates.

The update will also allow you to benefit from our new Smart Wi-Fi system enabling you to experience consistent high-speed throughout your entire home. Take full control of your network and enjoy additional features. To learn more about this new product, visit https://service.countybroadband.co.uk/.

Will I see any changes?

Yes, as a result, you will notice that your Wi-Fi will have one name (SSID) instead of two. You will only see the 2.4Ghz advertised, but do not worry both 5Ghz and 2.4GHz will be optimised. Your router will automatically pick the best frequency for your devices, making everything smoother and more convenient for you.

Will I need to do anything?

Yes, when your router is upgraded, you may need to reconnect some of your devices to your Wi-Fi. This will apply to devices you previously connected on the 5Ghz network.

How to reconnect my device if disconnected:

  • If your device supports or is asking to use WPS during its network set-up, you can easily reconnect it to your network. Just follow the steps on your device.
  • The WPS button is located on the front towards the bottom of your router and is clearly labelled.
  • When it is activated, you should see a flashing light on the WPS button for a short period of time allowing your device to connect to your Wi-Fi.
  • If you have any questions, head to your portal at https://service.countybroadband.co.uk/ or call our UK-based customer support team at 01376386188.

How to Troubleshooti any issues:

  • If your internet is slower than expected on a device, try going to the settings of that device and forget the "CountyBB" network. Then, reconnect using the same info found on your router.
  • If your router says "Incorrect Password," just turn it off and on again. Then, try entering the password once more.
  • If your device suggests using WPS during setup, don't worry. Just follow the steps on your device and press the 'WPS' button at the bottom of your router labelled 'WPS.' When it's on, you'll see a blinking green or white light on the WPS button for a bit. This lets your device connect to your Wi-Fi easily.
  • If you have any further questions, please head to your service portal for information on frequently asked questions and to raise a support ticket at https://service.countybroadband.co.uk/

How to manage my internal network:

Your new Smart Wi-Fi will also allow you to have greater management of your internal network using the My CB Wi-FI App which is available from Google Play Store and the Apple Store. Our user guide is available via your customer portal by clicking here!

You will get additional benefits such as setting up a guest network, parental controls and managing devices on your network. Your login details will be the same as your customer portal for your convenience.
