This guide is an introduction to the Wireless services that County Broadband offer. Additionally, there will be support to help you to connect your devices to your new wireless router.
What is Superfast Wireless?
The Superfast Wireless service uses Ubiquiti equipment to establish a point-to-point connection across our Wireless network. This means that service is received from an antenna in your local village (referred to as an Access Point) to another antenna that is installed at your property.
This connection is then fed from your antenna to your router, allowing for broadband connectivity around your home.
Hardwire
To hardwire a device to your router:
- Locate an Ethernet cable
- Attach one end to your device's Ethernet/LAN port
- Attach the other end to one of your router's LAN ports
- Turn on your device and ensure it shows as connected
Wi-Fi
You will see two Wi-Fi connections which each work a little differently. This is due to the particular frequencies they broadcast on.
These connections are referred to as 2.4GHz (CountyBB-XXXXXX) and 5GHz (CountyBB-XXXXXX-5G)
Your 2.4GHz connection has a wider range throughout the house, while your 5GHz connection works best in the same room as the router.
To connect to either of your Wi-Fi connections:
- Open your device's Wi-Fi settings and search for nearby networks.
- Locate the SSID (Wi-Fi name) specified on the sticker on your router.
- Select this from the list and enter the network key/passphrase located on your router.
- Allow for a few moments for your device to connect to the router – Once your device has confirmed that the connection has been established, you can enjoy your Superfast Wireless Broadband!
