Here are some handy tips and tricks to ensure the best performance from your HYPERFAST Fibre broadband!
Wi-Fi vs Hardwire (physically connecting your device)
The best means of connection depends on your device and how and where you would like to use it.
Hardwire
We recommend hardwired connections for the highest and most consistent speeds, particularly for devices that will not be moved - think PCs and gaming consoles!
Hardwired connections also provide better stability for important devices like your Smart TV or Sky Q box.
Customers with Dual-Band Options
5GHz Wi-Fi
This is your faster Wi-Fi connection through which you are more likely to see the full speeds for your package. Its name ends with "5G".
This is recommended for devices (including portable ones) close to the router that you want to use for high speed and low latency operations like gaming or downloads.
2.4GHz Wi-Fi
This is a slower Wi-Fi connection, typically averaging up to 50Mbps, but it works on a frequency that can reach further than your 5GHz Wi-Fi.
We recommend using this for devices that don’t show the 5GHz Wi-Fi (like older devices and TVs) or devices that require a stable service regardless of speeds (like Smart Home devices)
Customers with Smart Wi-Fi Enabled
Some of our customers will have received a firmware update of their router that enables “Smart Wi-Fi”. This means you will see only one County Broadband connection from your router. This is because the Smart Wi-Fi feature merges both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz frequencies to allow your devices to seamlessly connect to one or the other depending on where you are in your house.
Smart Wi-Fi also allows you to connect a Smart Wi-Fi Node to your internal network. Please refer to our Smart Wi-Fi manual under the “Downloads” area for more information on our Smart Wi-Fi solution.
